Chef Kristen Watts Schumacher is a graduate of Indiana University, the Seattle Culinary Academy, and a proud attendee of the Quillisascut Farm School of the Domestic Arts and a lifelong entrepreneur in the food industry.

She has been professionally cooking for over 25 years, a cookbook contributor, chef consultant, caterer, recipe developer, cooking instructor, and a sustainable food advocate & volunteer. She develops consumer goods utilizing local and seasonal ingredients. She designs and manages large scale food events, acts as a liaison between local food producers, chefs and the community. She enjoys educating people about the value of sustainable and regenerative kitchen practices.

She was chef/owner of Heirloom Cookshop in downtown Snoqualmie, Washington for seven years where she hosted cooking workshops, bustling happy hours, lively themed brunches, a weekly seasonal farmers market, wine & beer holiday events, and a curated mercantile of consumer-packaged goods. She continued to offer wholesale products to many Snoqualmie Valley businesses during the pandemic.

Currently, she is Director of Culinary Operations and Education at Carnation Farms in Carnation Washington. It is an 820-acre certified organic farm with diversified production in livestock and vegetables. She and her team develop seasonal menus while collaborating with local producers for farm dinners, events, retreats as well as curates products for the Carnation Farmstand and other local businesses. She continues to develop mission driven programs & retreats rooted in education and advocacy from a regenerative lens. Her passion for local & seasonal products, true respect for animal husbandry and especially seasonal deliciousness drives the vision for her programs, events, and menus and value-added products.

She is mother of two fabulous teen girls, Ryanne & Finley. Loves exploring the outdoors in any season lakeside, skiing with her partner Andrew, climbing mountains, dabbles in international travel as much as possible, creating art, pouring over cookbooks, tinkering in the kitchen, and sipping fine tequila.
